    IEEE CEC 2010 – Best Paper Award

    The program co-chairs of the 12th IEEE Conference on Commerce and Enterprise Computing held in Shanghai, China, are very pleased to announce the authors Christoph Lofi, Christian Nieke, and Wolf-Tilo Balke as the recipients of the best paper award for their paper on "Mobile Product Browsing using Bayesian Retrieval".

    Christoph Lofi studied Computer Science at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany and received his diploma degree in 2005. His early interests were in systems and software engineering. He worked from 2001 to 2004 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE), Kaiserslautern and in 2005 at the Collaborative Software Development Laboratory, Honolulu, USA. He started his PhD studies at the L3S Research Center, Hannover, Germany in early 2006. There, his interest shifted to information systems and databases, and most of his later works focus on personalized database queries. Since 2008, he is working at the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany and will receive his PhD degree in early 2011. http://www.ifis.cs.tu-bs.de/staff/christoph-lofi

    Christian Nieke received his B.A. in Information Technology in a cooperative education program at Berufsakademie Mannheim in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR). He then studied at Technische Universität Braunschweig where he worked at the Institute for Information Systems (IfIS). He finished his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science in 2010.

    Wolf-Tilo Balke currently is a full professor at Technische Universität Braunschweig and a director of the L3S Research Center, Hannover, Germany. Before that he was a research fellow at the University of California at Berkeley. His research is in the area of information systems and service provisioning, including preference-based database retrieval algorithms and ontology-based discovery and selection of Web services. Wolf-Tilo Balke is the recipient of two Emmy-Noether-Grants of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Scientific Award of the University Foundation Augsburg. He has received his B.A. and M.Sc. degree in mathematics and a PhD in computer science from University of Augsburg, Germany.
